NVIDIA RTX 5060 Ti for budget local AI inference

NVIDIA RTX 5060 Ti graphics card

The 16GB version of the RTX 5060 Ti is the one worth discussing. The 8GB version is a gaming card that happens to run small models. With 16GB you can run 4-bit quantized models up to about 13B comfortably, plus a 32B model with offloading if you are patient.

That is substantial capability for a mid-range price. What it is not: a 24GB replacement. If your goal is 32B-plus models at full graphics processing unit (GPU) speed, save for more video memory (VRAM) instead.

Power efficiency is the 5060 Ti's quiet advantage. It draws far less than a 3090-class card, so it runs cool in small cases and will not spike your electricity bill during long inference sessions. For a bedroom office rig, that counts.

The 5060 Ti makes sense as a first local-AI card or a second machine's card: quiet, efficient, and enough for the 7B to 13B models most people run daily. Pair it with 32GB of system RAM so offloading never chokes, and you have a solid starter rig. See our current GPU picks.
